What a colour would you choose about your mood of today?
Turquoise.
Perhaps would you tell us about the environment where you were raised in your childhood/ teen years?
I was raised around fields and farms, with bikes and a lot of being outside in nature. I lived in a small town near to Brussels, so still close to the city. I went to school there and also lived in Ghent for a while before moving to Amsterdam when I was 18. I loved my childhood, had a lot of friends and loads of adventures.
Where do you live now?
Amsterdam.
niuhans often dyes clothes with botanical colors.
Would you tell us the name of flower and its colour which blooms in your hometown?
Tulips, the most famous flower from the Netherlands. It has so many different colors, yellow red blue… etc.
Do you have a place you can call spiritual home? If yes, please tell us about it.
I guess this would be nature. Watching the stars, looking at the clouds, strolling through the woods. Daydreaming..
What is your favorite season?
SUMMER.
What is the precious thing/ time in your daily life?
Friends and family , can’t live without them.
How would you spend time during a day off, and also a working day??
During a working day, I’d wake up early, bike to my agency where we always meet when shooting on location. Drive there, shoot, lunch discuss and after close off with a glass of wine and discuss the shoot.
When I’m off I’ll probably go to the park with friends, chill and after meet up at my favorite oyster place in Amsterdam. We’ll sit there the whole evening and talk about future and plans trips we can do together. We all love traveling and going on adventures.
What is your favorite fashion style?
I love long dresses that float when dancing in the wind.
Do you remember when you took a picture for the first time?
Yes, I used to have a small polaroid camera with the size of a negative; would love to shoot with it again by the way.
What would you try to catch when you are taking a photograph?
An emotion, a purity. A connection with the model, that is reflected in the image. Something mysterious that catches the eye of the person looking at the picture.
What camera do you shoot with currently?
Canon FTB, Nikon D90, my Canon 5D Mark III, Olympus M.
Do you have a favorite photo book?
I love all of Mark Borthwick books. My favorite is Not in Fashion.
Which photographers do you particularly respect?
Regarding niuhans shoot, what place did you shoot?
The river close to my home in Amsterdam.
Would you tell us about how the shoot went?
Yes I was shooting one of my best friends Roos Van Rij, and we were just walking around looking for a great spot, it was very windy that day.If you don’t mind, tell us about the relationship between you and the model?
I have known her for 8 years and she and her lovely sister were one of the first people I met here, and always stayed very close. They live in my street and we talk every day. They are a big part of my life and can’t imagine life without them.
Would you tell me what is your impression about Japan?
I would love to visit Japan soon, haven’t been there but I hear lovely things about Japan, especially Tokyo. Hope to go there soon.
Do you have a place where you would like to visit for shooting?
Iceland, New Zealand.
Lastly, is there any news you would like to announce? or what plans do you have for future projects?
I’m represented by a new agency in Amsterdam, called Halal Amsterdam. Really happy to be a part of this family. I’m busy making a book, that will hopefully come out somewhere next year.

仕事場で友人たちが話し合っていて、煙草を吸っている姿が見えます。
今日の気分を色に例えるとしたら何色ですか？
ターコイズです。
子供の頃はどんな環境で育ちましたか？
ブリュッセル近くの小さな田舎町で育ちました。少しの間ゲント（ベルギーの都市）に住んだこともあったけれど、アムステルダムへ移住する18歳まで過ごした大好きな場所です。辺り一面農園や野原で、いつも自然の生き物に囲まれていて、大勢の友人にも恵まれ、自転車に乗って沢山の冒険もしました。
現在はどちらに住んでいますか？
アムステルダムです。
あなたの生まれ育った土地に咲く花の名前や色を教えていただけますか？
チューリップです。オランダで最も有名な花ですね。イエロー、レッド、ブルーなど、様々な色の種類があります。
あなたにとって、心の故郷的な場所はありますか？
それは自然の中だと思います。星や雲を眺めて、空想したり、森の中を散歩するんです。
好きな季節はいつですか？
夏です。
私生活で大切にしている事や時間はありますか？
家族や友人との時間を大切にしています。彼らなしの生活は考えられません。
普段の生活と休日の過ごし方を教えて下さい。
平日は朝早く起きて、所属エージェンシーへ自転車で向います。撮影の時はいつもそこから車で、現場へ向かいます。お昼はランチをしながらスタッフと打ち合わせをして、撮影を続け、最後にその日の撮影について皆んなと話しながらワインを飲みます。休日の日中は、友人と公園でのんびりすることが多いです。そして夕方、アムステルダムで一番好きなオイスター料理店で、再び友人と会います。一晩中そこで過ごしながら、お互いの将来の事や、一緒に行く旅行の計画を立てたりするんです。
好きなファッションスタイルはありますか？
踊った時にひらひらと風になびくような、ロングドレスが好きです。
初めて写真を撮った時のことを覚えていますか？
ええ、以前持っていたネガと同じ大きさのポラロイドカメラで撮影した時の事を覚えています。因に、また同じカメラで撮影してみたいと考えています。
写真を撮る際に心掛けていることを教えて下さい。
純粋さや感情、写真を見る人の目に映る不思議な魅力を捉えること、そして、モデルとの関係性は写真のイメージにとても影響するので、気をつけるように心掛けています。
使用しているカメラを教えていただけますか？
Canon FTB と Nikon D90、それに愛用しているCanon 5D Mark II や Olympus M です。
お気に入りのアートブックや写真集はありますか？
Mark Borthwickの写真集が好きで、特に“Not in Fashion”が好きです。

その日はとても風の強い一日で、私は親友のRoosと一緒に良いロケーションを見つけるため、辺りを散策していました。
モデルとの関係について教えて下さい。
彼女と彼女の妹とは、私がアムステルダムへ移住してきた8年ほど前からの仲で、彼女たちも私の家と同じ通りに住んでいます。彼女たちとは毎日のように話をしていて、かけがえのない存在です。
日本の印象について教えていただけますか？
特に東京について、素晴らしい所だと色々話を聞いているので、近いうちに日本を訪れてみたいです。
撮影で訪れてみたい場所はありますか？
アイスランドとニュージーランドです。
最後に、今後の計画やニュースなどがあれば教えて下さい。
アムステルダムのHalal Amsterdamという新しいエージェンシーに所属が決まった事をとても嬉しく思っています。そして現在、写真集を制作中なので、来年中には発表したいと考えているところです。
